About Me   

Imran Y Ali started writing in 2010 as a third-year medical student. He has interned with the medical news unit at CNN at the New York Bureau. He is currently at St. Georges University School of Medicine's Global Scholar's program pursuing a combined Doctor of Medicine and Master of Public Health. He completed his Master of Arts in medical research at New York Medical College. As he begins to embark on a career in medical journalism, he aims to become well versed in public health issues and in clinical medicine. Therefore Imran is pursuing a combined MD/MPH degree. Previously completing his MS degree in Medical Research focusing on how HIV causes dementia and severe neurological disorders. HIV Dementia is the new frontier when it comes to the AIDS epidemic as Anti-retroviral drugs are not always effective treatments and as patients are living longer more cases are bound to emerge. He also has worked extensively with the medical news unit at CNN and with Dr. Sanjay Gupta. Currently he hopes as a medical student, to prepare a folio of medical report packages for a demo tape to be given to various local television news outlets. He plans to begin as an entry level reporter working up to the medical editorial position while trying to practice adult and pediatric neurology. Imran has been involved in many charitable organizations such as Autism Speaks helping with celebrity fundraisers. In his spare time he loves traveling, exercise, and cars.
