hi scott , im im on my final push day of month 1 c&r and i already feel different, not like ive gained tons of size but i feel more full and bulky when i look in the mirror.

Aside from that i’d like your opinion on how alcohol affects gains and will it stop me from packing on some real size ?

Being 17 i go to a lot of parties and drink most weekends , i drink vodka not beer if that makes a difference? But i’d like your opinion on whether this is going to slow down my gains drastically or even stop them.

I really wanna pack on some size using c&r by the end of the year but if alcohol is gonna hold it back that puts a downer on it coz i dont think im ready to give up partying quite yet😂.

Looking forward to your response bro

The use of alcohol and its effects on gains comes down to quantity and frequency. The type of alcohol you drink is really not as important as the quantity and frequency. If you drink one night a week and account for the calories in the alcohol such that your average calorie intake for the WEEK is either at maintenance totals or slightly less, you will not gain fat and it will have minimal effect on your gains and testosterone levels.

If, however, you are drinking every weekend and drinking enough to get hammered (regardless of the type of alcohol), then you will see some impact on your gains and possibly experience some fat gain. At 17, you are still young and your body and liver can handle more abuse than someone who is older. However, you need to decide which is more important - making solid lean gains or getting wasted every weekend. You can't have both. Over time, consistent weekend binge drinking will take its toll and if you are genetically predisposed to alcoholism you will be on the path to a downward spiral.

I agree with @jmboiardi, for example if you go drinking then the next morning you don't really want to go workout especially if you have a bad hangover so therefore your consistency decreases. I think consistency is most important part. Another example of that is , let's say it's Back and Biceps on Friday but you want to go out with the lads well then you might'nt get to the gym that day because you're going out. If it's only your caloric intake that changes then I feel like it's not that bad, especially since you're young like myself although I don't drink every weekend so I could be wrong.

Great advice from John and Arnold!

I actually made an entire video about alcohol intake and how it might impact your gains. If it's literally every weekend, and it's to the point where you are absolutely hammered, then it might not be the best. But once a week also isn't as bad as multiple times a week. But you can check out the video and then decide where you sit and whether it's an issue or not.

Side note.. isn't the legal drinking age still 21? 😋 hahaha.
