Am I do something wrong regards to my health?

    September 8, 2017, 6:23 pm

    Whats up Nation,

The reason for my post today is regards to blood pressure. I've always learned from Scotts videos and fitness articles in general that fitness and nutrition are ideal natural ways for lowering blood pressure. When I first started working and was consuming around 1800-2000 calories a day, my blood pressure readings were always in the 120's for the systolic and 60-75's for the dialostic. It's not the ideal blood pressure of course but it was still heathly. Ever since I started on a lean bulk and been doing less cardio I noticed my blood pressure readings have gone up. My systolic readings have been between 135-148 and my dialostic readings have been between 70-90. This is concerning to me cause I am only 23 years old and have been taking very good care of myself. I eat four meals a day containing lean meats such as pork chops for one meal, turkey breasts, and chicken. With the meats I take in sweet potatos and veggies. For my fats I consume almonds and on top of all this I take one fish oil pill and one multivitamin every morning. Its annoying me cause I feel like I should be healthier than I feel. I am not sure if its my new macros? Right now im consuming roughly 175g protein, 300-315g carbs and 75g fat. I am not sure if my blood pressure is raising due to my carb intake even though its healthy carbs. Should I start doing more cardio in my routine? RIght now it just mainly consists of weightlifting to try and increase all my compound lifts.

      Thanks Nation

What kinds of foods are you eating during the bulk. Are you noticing dizzyness or lightheadedness during training at all?

You need to be careful with how you define "normal" blood pressure. These guidelines are set by the Joint National Committee (JNC). We have had the JNC 6 guidelines from 1998, the JNC 7 guidelines from 2003, and the new JNC 8 guidelines from 2014.

JNC 7 was the one emphasizing that BP under 120/80 was actually Normal, 120/80 - 140/90 was Pre-Hypertensive, 140/90 and higher had Stages 1 and 2 of Hypertension. The new JNC 8 guidelines modify these guidelines. Normal BP is now 140/90 and lower. Hypertension is now 140/90 and higher. It also takes into account age because as you age your BP normally increases as the body's adaptation to aging blood vessels and organs. Getting treated for Hypertension using many of the most common drugs has been found to INCREASE stroke rate and death rate - especially in older people.

The pharmaceutical industry does its best to influence the JNC and the AMA as BP meds make a lot of money for them as they must be taken everyday for life. I would review this link before you start worrying about what your BP should be based on the old JNC 2003 guidelines. The new JNC 8 guidelines are more accurate now based on the data and research:
