Bulking for over a year bad?

Is it okay to bulk for more than a year at a time?

Hey guys, I am going to be starting my first ever bulk in March and I was wondering how long it should last? I am planning to bulk from March till around April/May 2018, is this too long? I am currently around 135lbs and tired of being the skinniest person in the room. Also how much weight should I be gaining per month on a lean bulk? and when is the best time to weigh myself? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks! :)

it depends. if you're legitimately on a lean bulk, you could essentially do it forever as long as you control the fats you're gaining.

However, if you're trying to gain mass that quickly, I would go with a heavy bulk for 6 months and check your progress. if you're that skinny and that bothers you, then I would suggest maybe getting a mass gainer or some sort of bulk supplement. I take whey concentrate at 175 lbs 6'1". but sometimes wonder about gainers. Maybe give it a try?

Best of luck!

@Rebellious_Saiyan there's nothing wrong with bulking for that long, as long as you monitor your progress and keep the fat gain to a minimum.

How much weight you should be aiming for depends on how long you have been lifting - I'm guessing you are a bit of a newbie? Which means around 2lbs per month would be ideal. A little over that is OK, but in your first year you're probably only looking at 20-25lbs of MUSCLE you can gain depending on genetics and getting your training, nutrition and sleep spot on. So anything more than 2lbs per month is probably going to be some fat that you will have to cut later. But you will gain some fat while bulking, so it's OK :-)

Best time to weight yourself is in the morning. Before eating or drinking anything, and after going to the bathroom. Try to do it on the same day every week for an accurate measurement.
