Hi guys. Im 16 and have been deadlifting for about 3 months now so im new to it. I have attatched a video of my deadlifts here. What i have found is that after I have completed my set and i stand upright, for about 2-3 seconds, sometimes a bit longer, i get a feeling in my lower back. Its not neccessarily painful, but the way i would describe the feeling is it feels as though ive been curled up for a long period of time, and have finally stretched my back, if that makes sense. Its a twingey kind of feeling, but yeah once ive stood up and my lower back is upright, i feel it and then it goes. I should also mention that it only happens once i do stand up and my back straightens out completely. If i were to remain bent over i wouldnt get the feeling until my back was upright/ going upright.

Im not extremely concerned because it happens every time i do deadlifts and romainian deadlifts and it has never caused an injury or prolonged pain, or even any feeling at all apart from those 2-3 seconds whilst my back straightens. I dont get a similar pain ever, infact the only other feelings my lower back gets are fatigue and muscle soreness after deadlifts.

So yeah, if anyone could let me know whats happening here I would be very grateful, and if you could tell me ifs its my form and how to impove my form and what im doing wrong that would be awesome thanks!

Edit: i just want to mention despite 45kg being very light, it is 45kg and not 45lbs, im not that weak xD

Hey @Jools.

Your deadlift form looks OK, although you sort of seem to be rowing the weight up after you bring it past your knees.

What could be causing your pain might be more to do with a posture issue. This might give you more guidance - http://muscularstrength.com/article/Fix-your-posture-A-simple-yet-complicated-guide-to-spinal-health#

Thanks alot guys i feel reassured now :) I think it may be the camera angle thats making me look like i row the weight up because my arms dont bend at all when i deadlift, also Jordan i cant seem to see the video that you posted could you post a link? And i will read up on the posture link, thank you for that. Cheers guys!
