So I'm suppose to be going out on Tuesday to a party and I'm wondering if training that day will be a waste? Will the alcohol make a waste of my training session and will it also be a waste to train the next day?

Alcohol does have a huge impact on your training and results, but of course it will depends on how much you drink and how you train. Having a few beers wont really be the biggest set back, however if you plan on getting drunk I would not suggest training hard. Mostly because alcohol messes with your recovery. In addition when you have a heavy night out, you most likely dont eat well and you do not sleep well so your muscles will not have the requirements to recover.

Alcohol and bodybuilding / fitness do not go hand in hand, so its about priorities. I personally love training but I also like going out every once in a while. Everything in moderation and you will be good.

If you are not making this a regular habit, here is what you can do:

Remember that alcohol has 7grams of sugar per ounce. If you calculate your macros for the day, keep your protein levels the same but drastically cut your carb and fat numbers to account for the alcohol calories you plan to consume. They add up fast with alcohol because unless you stick to 1 or 2 beers, you will be consuming a lot of empty calories that throw off your metabolism and tax your liver than you realize.

Also remember, alcohol is a neuro-toxin so your body will spend all its time processing and eliminating it before it starts working on digesting any other legitimate food you have eaten. This means avoid the alcohol munchies wanting you to eat pizza, potatoe chips, or McD's as all those crap calories will take a back seat to alcohol metabolism. This is one of many reason why alcohol derails your efforts to get lean and strong. One time won't set you back too much but doing it more frequently definitely will.
