Hit it 2 - 3 times a week bro!
Abs can pretty much be trained everyday. One option which will also help with ab training is to do all your compound lifts - squats, deadlifts, benching, pressing, curling - without a belt. This in effect trains your abs as all compound movements require a firm and tight core to perform. The center of the core is your abs. Ourside of pure strength training, there really is no need to use a belt unless you have back problems and/or you plan on training heavier than usual on some workouts.

I actually have a skinny fat body with around 12% body fat. How often should i train my abs? I recently started following Anabolic Aliens' beginner HIIT Abs workout twice per week. Is it enough for a skinny fat person?
If you're skinny fat don't worry about your abs. If you do, you'll always be stuck in the same cycle of skinny-fat. You try to bulk a little to gain muscle, then get afraid your gut is growing and you want abs so you cut, then realize you still need muscle and try to bulk again, etc. I've been there, I know the pain! Work on an overall slow lean bulk to recomp your body, and make sure you're eating enough quality food. Abs twice a week with compound movements is plenty. Worry about cutting to show off those abs when you have other muscles to show, or you'll just be skinny instead of skinny-fat.
Well @johnny2603 is right about not getting stuck in a cycle of being skinny fat by always cutting and bulking.. I actually made a video about it yesterday which you can check out down below.
But you can definitely still train them if you want them to grow and REALLY stand out. Personally I like to hit them 3-4 times a week. I'll link you another video for that as well! ðŸ˜
Gonna check the videos right now!
Thanks for the advice!
You're welcome man!!
Btw one more question I'm already into a bulk phase rn. Should I do HIIT training or just like abs work out it will keep me in the cycle of skinny fat?
As long as you track how many calories you've burnt doing HIIT, and add them onto your daily calorie intake you'll be fine. If anything it should do you good.
I would do some HIIT to in order to help you stay lean. Ab workouts won't really help with staying lean.. they will help you build your abdominal muscles. That is unless you're doing abs as some kind of circuit.. in which case it becomes HIIT lol.
So, you don't HAVE to do HIIT, but I do recommend it 2-3 times a week just to keep your body churning through some of those fat stores ðŸ‹
So it won't have any negative impact on my bulking phase?
I thought since I'm skinny fat and a beginner i would be able to build muscle while losing the fat i have thus probably getting rid of the skinny fat look. That's why i thought training abs often while HIIT cardio twice per week will help in the process of losing fat and weight training for building muscles
Not at all, if anything it'll boost your metabolism, just make sure you add on them calories you've burnt
You're right that's what will start to happen. And you should train abs 3-4 times a week to really build them (in my opinion), and doing HIIT 2 times per week will help you stay lean as you build mass, yes. It won't have any negative effects on your bulking just as long as you are still eating enough food to be in a 250-500 calorie surplus.
