How's it going Nation!

So I've never been good at jump rope. I've always blamed my huge size 15 feet but then I know that was just an excuse to not exercise. Well that's all changing now! I bought myself a jump rope and I'm teaching myself how to do it. To get better at it, I forced myself to do sit ups/Russian Twists every time I messed up and it worked! After 7 rounds of going back and forth with the rope and situps I got to a point where my core was on fire! I knew that if I didn't do the jump rope right I was gonna have to get down and put my stomach through some more torture. So at the last round I did, I was able to jump for a whole minute! I'm so pumped about it! Today I made some major progress and it was my first time!

I've been doing some work for Scott where I've been reviewing a lot of his video catalog and I've decided that after my normal routine I'm going to start a circuilt I built from utilizing Scotts circuits. I want to do the jump rope and then every time I fail, I'll go right into doing Bent Over Dumbbell Rows, Judo Push Ups, Bicycle Kicks, and maybe Alternating Single Leg Supermans just to piss off my legs lol.

What do you guys think? Do you got any advice on jumping rope? I'll let you guys know how the routine goes!

I got something on the jump roping. I do like your idea of doing abs every time you mess up, but how you made it sound, you were doing more abs than jump roping. I would have done a little tally sheet near by so that once you're done with jump roping you can punish yourself for the mess ups. But that can lead to overdoing it, if you mess a lot.

But with jump roping I found the more you practice at it the better you get at it(duh). I use to be pretty bad when I first started. But I just slowly started to progress. Getting 1 jump, then 2, and so on. I also use the sound of the jump rope smack as a drum beat to establish a rhythm. So that is one que that I use to jump. But I haven't really learned a shortcut to jump roping besides just practicing.

I have a basic knowledge of exercising, lifting, and fitness. Looking to improve that knowledge to improve myself and to help others in the career path I am looking into pursuing.

I love jumping rope!

I had such a hard time when I picked it back up a few years ago to not skip like we all did back in primary school. I felt pretty foolish jumping up and down like an 8-year-old!

Now I'm trying to learn to do CrossFit-style double-unders. Still a work in progress...

Cheers

Glad you caught that man! I was doing more abs than jump roping haha! That's kind of a good thing though because I'm preparing for mentrance exam into my local Sheriffs academy and I have to do a whole lot of sit ups!

You're absolutely right though. I need to get a tally sheet and track my progress because it is dificult to try and keep track in your head. Jump roping hurts SO much, but I am getting better :). So far it looks like 1 minute is my best time so far. Practice does make perfect though which is what I'm coming to learn about that damn rope.

Thanks for the info and I'll keep you updated!

Yeah man when I was a kid I was super skinny so it probably would have been easier but I still refused to try it. I just never liked it but now, no more excuses! Time to MAN UP and work out them calves!

I remember an old move with SinBad and he's with the presidents kid and he's taching him how to box. Well, it shows them at the beginning struggling to do the jump rope and then it shows the progression and they ger really good at it! When it shows them at the end they are sweating so much and that's what I'm hoping for! I just want to burn as much calories as possible :).

Keep it up Phil!

Hey Joey, I was thinking of you yesterday when I was doing some jump rope and was wondering how it was going for you.
