Hello everyone,

I've always had trouble with training my back. I can't go to the gym, so I have to workout at home. I only have 2 dumbbells of 15 kg's (33 lbs) and I feel like I'm stuck doing rows and back extensions. I don't have a place to do pull ups or exercises like that. I never feel like I'm actually training my back well enough to cause muscle damage. Can anyone give me advice on what I could do to develop my back?

Thanks in advance!

Buy a pull up bar. I am sorry if this answer seems very small but it seems that you are limited to two extremely light dumbells. In which case your back will not get enough muscle tear, you need more equipment or you have to go to the gym. Alternatively go swimming or rowing, great for the back.

I would ask someone to gift you a Total Fitness DLX Home Gym. It works wonders, even has a pull up bar. I have one at home and some free weights. I love using it all when I am not making a trip to my regular gym. For starters though, I would agree that the pull up bar would be a wise, cheap solution for some good back muscles development. Also, you could invest in a longer straight bar for doing some bent over rows or even some T-rows. I think that too would help to explode your back development!

Alright, thanks for the help guys!!

loys of great advice here. You should go on EBAY and search for an "iron gym". I bet you can get one for $50 and then you can start doing pull-ups anywhere. Check it out!

Coming back to this old thread, I finally found a place to do pull-ups! I currently do 5 sets of 8 reps of normal, close and wide grip pull-ups. However, as I don't have the strength to do more than 3 pull-ups in a row yet, I always try do to as many full reps and then I switch to eccentric reps. Would you guys call this a good routine or are there ways to make it better?
