Hey @Scott_Herman ,

At the moment I am 165 lbs, 14.5% Body Fat, 5'10, 17 years old. At what body fat percentage should I start cutting?

Thanks,

Jacob

What are your goals? If you are trying to build muscle and stay lean I would cut down to 10%-12% then do a lean bulk to around 15% then cut again. If you just want to be lean then cut to your desired bf %. Just remember while gaining muscle you will gain fat and if you gain to too high of a bf then your goals will just take longer and longer to reach. I like the traditional method of a lean bulk in the winter and cut in the spring so then you can show off in the summer. 💪

I have been training coming up on 6 years and have made some great gainz. I've done a lot of trial and error on myself as well as learned from others and through research online. I've come along way in strength and size since I've started. I will continue to learn and make myself better each day. Hey Jacob. You definitely don't want to get above 20% (in my opinion). Once you hit 18% that would probably be a good marker to stop at and cut down a bit. Testosterone levels are higher when you have a lower bf%.

For you, only being 17, there is not need for you to cut any time soon, not at 14.5% body fat. Just make sure that while you are in a lean bulk phase and eating in a surplus, that it's only a 250-500 calorie surplus so that you don't gain too much fat at all. And don't go too too crazy on your carbs. Lean gains are the way to go my friend!

Have you used the @mealplan calculator to get an estimation of what your macros/calories should be?
