Hi Scott. I'm still in the process of increasing how much I eat to reach my macros. Could you recommend any foods to add to my diet to help me reach my carb goals? Currently most of my carbs come from rice, pasta, and potatoes. Thanks!

Get some oats in there bro they are a great option! And you could have sweet potatoes as well as regular potatoes. Also thinks like wholegrain bread and beans.. you might end up having multiple servings of certain foods but that's OK.. sometimes makes it easier haha. Also make sure you're getting a good amount of fruits and veges.. they won't add heaps of carbs but every little bit helps! Check out the video below for the best carb sources!

I do eat oatmeal several times a week, and wholewheat bread pretty much daily. The three foods I mentioned aren't my only sources of carbs, just the main ones. Maybe I'll try adding beans.

In my view, the best would be:

Sweet Potatoes

Oats

Brown/Black/Red rice

Whole fruit (not fruit juice)

Quinoa

Pasta is very calorically dense and quite nutritious if you buy the 100% whole wheat semolina variant. However, most people tend to retain a lot more water with pasta than other carbs - myself included.

I am not a fan of bread of any type so I do not incorporate it into my meal plan. I prefer using whole fruit as it is not only fairly high in carbs but also very dense in minerals and anti-oxidants (micro-nutrients) critical to muscle growth and recovery.

Beans are very good but they contain a sugar called raffinose which our bodies can't break down effectively leading to a lot of gas and bloating. It affects some people more than others.

That rafinose def gets me. Maybe it’s the syntha-6 too tho, as I have bad gas even on non-bean days

As long as it's just bloating.. it's no big deal.. happens to the best of us haha. Have you seen these two videos?

Raffinose as well as the artificial sweetners they put is supplements will cause gas and bloating.
