Coffee instead of aminoX ?

Had a great workout after coffee an hr before

coming back from lunch at Corelife on Tues, wifey wanted to get Starbucks.  I got a black cold brew coffee.  An hour later was my workout PPL Push-A.  It was an amazing workout.  I was breaking through previous weight maxes by a few lbs on every exercise without getting tired.  I felt like superman.  I usually use BSN AminoX pre workout, but have not had a workout like that where I felt so accomplished in a long time.

Was it because of the coffee?

Could very well be. A big part of pre-workouts are their caffiene content, and depending on how much and what kind of coffee you got, you might have even had a little more caffiene in your system. Whatever works for you man! Might also be the fact that you waited an hour until you trained.. do you normally wait an hour after taking yoiur pre-workout?

No, I typically mix up aminoX right as I’m about to go to the basement to train, drink some before and some during. Should I be drinking it an hr ahead?

You could try it and see if you get a similar result to what you had by drinking the coffee one hour pre-workout. Doesn't hurt to try new methods here and there if it means you might get a better workout!
