Basically it all starts off with me asking, is it possible to achieve a great six pack and gain muscle from JUST home workouts, I mean NO equipment at all?

I'm a pretty skinny guy, I'm 16, 5'11, around 12 stone? I don't really have a "routine" of meals, whatever is cooked for dinner I'll eat. lately I've been trying to eat more healthy foods like fruit and vegetables, and trying to not eat unhealthy foods.

unfortunately I'm not sure on my bf% although I'm pretty skinny overall? Is there any ways to find out, as the weight scales I have don't work, and I don't exactly want to ask parents to buy a new one, neither do I want to.

Ive been doing workouts at home for about 2-3 months? obviously there's no major results, but i have noticed my arms getting slightly bigger, and from the side it does look like the outlining of abs? Im probsbly majorly wrong, but yeah.

i did a 30 day challenge which consisted of sit-ups, leg ups, and planks, going upto about a 3 minute plank and 100 leg ups, and 150 sit ups, I aimed to do more than targeted each day.

now im doing straight arm crunches, raised leg crunches, bicycle crunches, leg ups, and push-ups daily. i do 50-70 reps of each variation of crunches once a day, I'm trying to find time to do it 2 or 3 times a day. i found out I was doing pushups wrong for a while, I could do 40 reps no bother, that was with putting my arms out, rather than in and lowering my body.

Overall i probsbly sound like a noob here, :/ although im trying..

if anyone could spare a few minutes to help me out and give advice it woild help a lot.

also apologises for the spelling errors, the page isnt working well on my phone. SO.

what workouts are best for gaining muslce/working abs? really I'm one of them guys trying to gain abs to show off:S

From just home workouts, not equipment, I've been told that's possible?

Also so what food should I be eating? again I don't know my bf% :/ although I'm pretty skinny?

if anyone could help I'd really appreciate it.

Maybe start with doing basic stuff. Do push ups, dips, lunges, air squats and pull ups. If you can find a park with monkey bars, you can go there to do pull ups and all kinds of hanging ab exercises.

Check out the meal plan page to get your meal plan sorted out.

Hey man.

You can definitely gain some good size with home workouts.

Do you have any equipment, or are you limited to body weight work? How many times a week can you workout? If you only have a limited number of days, doing some total body stuff like you are already doing would be great, and the regulars like push ups etc. that @ohawkey suggested are great options too.

Gaining muscle is also about diet. Have you tried to calculate your macros? That's super important. Check out the @mealplan page for more info.

For building abs, check this out:

Remember, abs also come down to a low body fat percentage. You can post a photo and we can guesstimate your bf%, or you could pick yourself up one of these: https://www.facebook.com/ScottHermanFitness/photos/np.1444603509312072.1803572027/10153170344949562/?type=3&notif_t=notify_me_page

Hope this helps! #HTH

Hey @LyonL,

Great post, let's see what we can do to help you. When training at home with no equipment you can become very strong and have great contorl over your body, but building massive muscle will be very hard without weight.

You can build muscle to a degree while training at home, but you will eventually hit a plateau.

Can you go to the @mealplan page and use the calculator to tell us your daily macros?

As far as home workouts, you will need to get creative.

If you go to the WORKOUTS TAB at the top, you will find my LIONSGATE BEFIT workouts. Those are all home workouts and if they require dumbbells, they are usually 10s or 15s which you should have for at home anyways.

Here is one of the links: http://muscularstrength.com/befit-in-30-lvl-1

Also, I am uploading a new 15 - 20 minute REAL TIME workout every week to the @exclusive section of the site. If you are not a platinum member you should upgrade for one month free with the promo code: FREEFITNESS.

These workouts are intense and the majority of them will be bodyweight or require very little weight!

Let me know what you think!

Hey @lyonl !

Be positive man! Sounds like you are pretty dedicated and want to take fitness a little further!

Home workouts are great! No gym anxiety, no lines for weights, and can give it your all! (if you are more on that introverted side). Try investing roughly $20 in giant elastic bands for multiple ways to challenge your body with resistance! Also weighted dips / weighted push ups with textbooks may be a suggestion to change things up a bit!

However, my best advice I can give you is to try this website as a Platinum member for free and get in touch with the communiuty and gain a whole bunch of knowledge from the exclusive section on Nutrition and different gym AND at home workouts! Give it a shot man! use my PROMO CODE: GAINZ

-Also be sure to check out my YouTube channel TheGAINZTrain for extra content on fitness and health!

-Any other fitness questions feel free to shoot me an e-mail at TheGainzTrain1@gmail.com! Good Luck :)

Gym anxiety is why tbh... I used to go the school gym 2 days a week when I was in high school, and 2/3 days after school with friends, but since I left I don't really want to go myself, and I have anxiety too..

@LyonL

I finished reading "The education of a bodybuilder" by Arnold. In the workout and training section of the book, Arnold puts a lot of emphasis on bodyweight training since it helps build a lot of core strength and pretty good foundation for sculpting your body.
Like everyone said, resistance training with weights are needed beyond a certain point to build bigger muscles, although you can get pretty strong doing bodyweight training alone.

There's no reason that you won't be able to grow at home. a lot of people worjout at home and are in far better better shape than a LOT of gym rats.

Gym anxiety is perfectly normal. I had it. The biggest reason was the overwhelming presence of large guys in the gym. It was the picture that a large dude (my neighbour at the time) shared of him in far worse shape than I was in when I sarted working out and his words "We all have our origins in this journey. Embrace it, live it, own it and see the wonder that you are". I haven't looked back since then. :)

It's more anxiety in general, although going into a gym surrounded by build guys and loads of people around isn't good.

Overall I'm not aiming to get build like a brick shithouse, like yourself or others, id just like a good looking six pack to show off, and bigger arms, and legs.

i don't know my macros because I don't know my bf% , and the weight scales here don't work, any ideas?
