Hi everyone, I am a 23-year-old undergraduate. I'm 1.78m and 77kg as of weigh in a week ago. I dont have access to any bodyfat measurements but based on some searching, I estimate my bodyfat percentage to be around 18% to 20%. I have been going to the gym regularly ever since I was 17 but I got really serious about it when I was 18/19.

For my past undergraduate year, I have been really inactive and have not been going to the gym. As a result of the lack of exercise and unhealthy diet, my weight went up from 67kg to 77kg. I have been regularly starting to go to the gym again with the intention of making regular exercise a daily habit but I find myself at a crossroad now. Because of my weight gain, my bodyfat percentage went up and I have fat at my midsection that I hope to cut.

I follow a 3 day workout split, with chest/tri on monday, back/bi and wednesday and legs/shoulders on friday. Every alternate days I do cardio and train abs by doing bodyweight exercises.

I currently consume 2400 calories a day, out of which I consume around 90g of carbs, 280g of protein and 90g of fat. I try as best as I can to eat clean, healthy and so far it's been great. My BMR is around 2000.

My question is, should I continue doing this to achieve my goal of having a lean physique? Or, should I focus on doing circuit training workouts and go on a caloric deficit in order to lose weight?

Thank you for your time and advice!

Hey bro!

Glad you are getting back on track. If you want to get leaner you should try adding 2 - 3 days of HIIT cardio for 15 - 20minutes. Maybe after your workouts.

If the progress is still too slow, then I would switch to circuit training. You should check out the BEFIT workout programs in the "workout" tab.

Oh yeah!!
