Another video from Jason I would like to bring up for discussion. What do you tihnk of this ? I personally, have never heard of this training concept, doing squats every time you go to the gym... not to sure about that. A leg day for me is just like a back day, every muscle group get their devoted day in my program. Any thoughts ?

The bottom line is you need to train based on your goals. He is a powerlifter not a bodybuilder. Training for power is different than training for size. Muscles need time to heal regardless of the style of training you do. Biologically this makes no sense because even people on steroids need to provide rest days for each muscle. DOMS is encountered when you either do a new exercise or routine your body is not used to or you have increased the weight. In my opinion, this guy is off in left field and I would not follow any of his advice :-)

Everybody is different. My belief is that you should train legs frequently enough so that you are not sore. I train legs 2x per week with about 3-4 days in-between. This keeps soreness minimal and doesn't interfere with my life or other workouts (Aka life ;)) haha

It is true. But he does say that he believes that training squats 6 times per week gives you bigger legs than most bodybuilders.

I don't buy it unless you are on drugs. Legs can't completely heal from 6 days training in one day. Total BS in my opinion.

If you work your legs daily, you'll start to notice a decrease in your strength. Why? It's because your muscles need time to repair themselves after you put stress on them while working out. To see gains in hypertrophy, strength or both, you NEED to REST your muscles. Everyone has different a different POV of what the frequency of training should be, but everyone agrees that you need rest.
"Rest is a Weapon. Use it"
If, however, you want to hit your legs (or any other part) twice or more than that in a week, I recommend DUP protocols (Daily undulating periodization). I know a few people who've tried it in different forms and have seen a steady increase in their numbers.
Hope that helps.

Yeah I know. Like I mentioned in the first post in the thread I train legs once a week like any other muscle group, I would never do squats 6 times a week.

Yeah it is the same principle. I would never not allow my muscles to rest like Scott implies in the video.

I mean i get what he says about the frequency. And i agree with Eric on that "more frequently" part as far as in "twice a week".
To be honest my soreness has decreased when i started doing legs twice per week. They really seem to hate it being relaxed one week and then being hit like there is no tomorrow. (which kind of makes logical sense too)
But just as John, i also do not agree with the "do it 6 times a week". If he is a powerlifter he trains completely different anyways. Many 1 rep max, and then few minutes of rest inbetween. So that is a completely different matter, and taxing your system very differently.
And i think the part at 1:45 min. where he says they take more drugs "than i would use" explains a lot ^^. Since he basically admits he's on stuff.
And one thing he completely leaves out in his explanation is ... joints ? I don't even want to know how grinded your knee joints are or how much stress your spine has to go through if you squad 6 days a week with a fully loaded bar bell on your back...
