I am pleased to report that all of my nomination papers have been handed in and have passed the initial checks. The next stage is for the returning officer to give them the once over and if she confirms that everything is in order then I will recieve a letter congratulating me on becoming a bonefide canddiate. When that happens, I will start my election campaign with the first of nine walks around my village and the villages that make up the rest of the ward, therefore it makes sense to make it into an offical programme for Scott to give his expert opinion on.

I will be using the "Map My Walk" app on my phone to track my walks which also displays the distance and the length of time. Generally speaking I can walk a mile in around 15 - 18 minutes, but should remind members that if an elector asks me a policy related question if they catch me delivering my leaflets then my speed will collapse to 0mph as I do have to answer their questions.

In theory I am hoping (between April 5th and May 3rd) to walk a total of 30 miles but it is always possible that I may find an isolated house or farm, so that figure should be treated as a minimum more than a maximum. At this present moment in time I stand 6ft tall and weigh 210lbs.

Best of Luck My Fellow Welshman @WelshFitnessFan

I am sorry to say that I was not elected to the county ward (78 - 22) despite getting an 8% swing in my direction nor was I re-elected to my local community (by 20 votes) which I have accepted as I have never won any of the contested elections I have fought since 1997 (but my grandmother is taking very hard indeed)

I think it is most unlikely Scott for two reasons. Firstly, the next elections are in 2021/2022 and will be subject to redistricting (the boundaries of which have yet to be finalised) and secondly, my grandmother is very upset this morning because of this. As the registered carer for both her and her husband (both over 90) I don't think I can put them through that again.

I believe the main reason I lost is that despite being born in Wales (in Aberystwyth the former county town) and despite living in Wales for 39 years (1974 - 1979, 1982 - present), living in Ceredigion for 29 years (1974 - 1979, 1989 - 1993, 1998 - present) and leading a parade in 1997 calling for a YES vote to the creation of the Welsh Assembly, in the eyes of the people of Ceredigion, I will never be Welsh enough, therefore the next election I contest will be for an English council which holds elections every year where I know the issue of being Welsh will not be a concern.

That's too bad. Good luck with the next one though and good on you for looking after your grandparents so much! They are lucky to have you :-)

Thank you very much indeed for that Scott. Since the election I have been keeping myself to myself, just tallying the forthcoming general election, but felt I should say that since about Sunday I have started to form the conclusion that (on the proviso that I breath in and tense my torso as much as I can) I can start to see the dividing line that runs down the middle of most bodybuilders torso (suggesting that those 34 miles may have done something) plus comparing my profile with the majority of people in the largest nearby town I visited yesterday, I am a lot thinner than they are (as a lot of them had stomachs hanging over their pants (somethiong I have never had)
