About Me

Made on 10/01/2017 I used to be in the military and in shape. Well, in shape meaning, the fact that I could carry people and run long distances but I never lifted before. A year prior to getting out I started lifting ( 2014). To my surprise, I could only bench 135 for like 5-6 reps. I thought it was weird considering that I could drop and do more push ups than my friends who could lift more. This is where my journey started and I increased my bench over the next year to 205 LB. My squat went from 115 lbs - 285 lbs. My deadlift went from hurting at 135lbs ( also thought was weird cause in Afghan, I picked up people weighing 200 + lbs and ran just fine) to being able to dead lift 315. This was all while working 70 hours a week and not resting much. After getting out of the military in 2015, I ended up with an injury in my hip and had to go throuhh physical therapy. I could not walk nor exercise really. At this time, I also went through a divorce and many other big life events. These things put me in a bit of a depression because I couldn't work out plus I had no motivation to due to the life events. This combined with not adjusting my diet to not being in the Military any more, caused me to gain weight rapidly. I ended up gaining about 60 lbs over the next 16 months. I went from 170 lbs to about 235-40 lbs. Near the end of 2016, my life started turning around , I could afford a gym membership, I was no longer injured, I was finally not depressed and I decided it was time to look up and push to what I want in life. It has been a year since I started working out again (current date is 10/01/2017) , granted it is only 3 times a week. I have been working full time and going to school full time so it was hard to work out daily. I am down to weighing about 220-225, so I have lost 15-20lLbs. I also have gotten a lot of my upper body strength back and better. My consistent max on bench is about 295-305 even though I have done 315 before. I cant do it every time at the gym so I don't consider it a true number. My squat max squat is about 345. My triceps are much stronger than they were before as well. So this might be why I have only lost 15 lbs.over the last year. I joined this site because I just learned about it when I was searching fitness stuff on youtube and found Scott Herman! I have been at a Stand Still for about 3 months now and certain parts of my body are lacking ( back and shoulders). So I was looking into how to work them properly. I know how to do a solid leg day and a solid Chest day but the rest of my body, I am extremely lacking in knowledge. My body shows it too. I also don't want to go back to doing military style working out cause it is hard on your body. Over then next 6 months, I am going to do the "5 day Split routine" then do the" Push, Pull, Leg" routine. I hope to have my body look like what I lift. I enjoy out lifting a lot of shredded guys but I hate not looking like it. My goal is to get down to around 195 while increasing my strength. I am okay with being around 12% body fat if it means I can through around a decent amount of weight. I don't wanted to look super shredded and not be able to lift the part (I know plenty of these people who look shredded and muscular but their max weight is way less then mine). I want a happy middle ground.
